Description of the Job
You should acquire the knowledge and skills of an Artisan in the trade that you have chosen. (Apprentice in the field of mechanical fitting).
To participate in the formal training plan for the apprenticeship; to make reasonable progress toward achieving the competencies in this regard; to attend any necessary training or assessments related to this matter.
To achieve the competencies outlined in the training plan, it is necessary to carry out the duties that are required and to make fair progress.
In accordance with the instructions, participate in and attend any training or assessment that is associated with the curriculum. (The Shukela Training Centre) A training block that lasts for sixty days every year.
It is important to maintain possession of the training record, also known as the logbook, and to provide it to the employer and/or training organization whenever it is requested. (Apprentice and Fitter Mentor).
It is important to recognize that the employer retains ownership of any and all workplace instructions and other materials that are acquired by the apprentice as a result of their training.
Plant equipment, including pumps, centrifuges, steam traps, and steam reticulation equipment, is subject to maintenance, repair, and scheduled maintenance, which is carried out under the direction of qualified Artisans from the Utilities Maintenance Department.
Engage in productive collaboration with other individuals in order to successfully accomplish the maintenance activities and goals.
Proactive action to identify and correct potentially unsafe conditions and acts, as well as adherence to health, safety, and environmental procedures, work instructions, guidelines, regulations, and legislation, as well as programs.
In addition to providing assistance with breakdowns, you will be responsible for assisting the Fitter in carrying out daily routine maintenance activities in the various AECI Property Services plants.
The second year of the Apprenticeship program requires you to provide assistance to the Maintenance Fitter who is assigned to Standby Duty.
Use of power tools and hand tools in an effective manner.

Qualities and previous work experience
Matric, with a focus on mathematics and science.
An N3 is necessary because it is required in order to apply for the Trade Test.
Driver’s license will be advantageous.
A fundamental comprehension of the process plant and the significance of perform maintenance.
In order to work in a chemical environment, you are required to be able to obtain a health clearance.
Experience in the mechanical field will be advantageous.
It will be beneficial to have both hand and power tools.
