Summary of the Role
An opportunity for an APPRENTICE (AUTOMOTIVE MOTOR MECHANIC/PETROL) is currently available at Motus Roodepoort Multi-franchise.
This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is enthusiastic about pursuing a career as a skilled technician in the motor industry and is eager to train and certify as a motor mechanic.
A suitable candidate is required to participate in all aspects of the Apprenticeship program, including assisting with the repair of vehicles while working under the supervision of a qualified Technician, fulfilling the MerSETA requirements of the trade, mastering level tests, and qualifying within a maximum of 4 years.
To fulfill the MerSETA requirements of the trade, master level examinations, and qualify within a maximum of 4 years, participating in all aspects of the Apprenticeship program, assisting with the repair of vehicles while working under the supervision of a qualified Technician.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Participate in scheduled technical/level training courses.
- To gain practical experience by assisting with the repair of vehicles under the supervision and guidance of a technician.
- In order to achieve qualification within the maximum of four years, it is imperative to thoroughly prepare for level examinations.
- Help with housekeeping by ensuring that the work area is clean and the tools and equipment are in excellent order.
- Adhere to workplace safety regulations and protocols.
- Execute any other reasonable responsibilities that may arise from time to time.
Experience and Qualifications
- Grade 12 is required. Pure Mathematics and Physical Science are recommended subjects; a minimal pass mark of 50% in each subject is advantageous.
- A driver’s license that is valid and unendorsed
- A criminal record that is unblemished is required.
- Technical aptitude and mechanical comprehension are indispensable. Experience and expertise in this field will be advantageous.
Attributes and Skills
- Proficient in the operation of manufacturer diagnostic equipment/computers to access information.
- Capable of physically fulfilling the responsibilities of the position; physically capable of engaging in heavier tasks.
- Have fun working with your tools.
- Capable of operating in environments that are excessively boisterous.
- Possess excellent hand-eye coordination and eyesight.
- Possess exceptional skills in the areas of motor vehicle defect finding and problem solving/troubleshooting.
- Mental acuity
- In order to accurately document the findings and work performed on job cards and access repair information in OEM bulletins and online systems, it is necessary to possess strong English communication and writing skills.
