Cashier Description of the Job

In order to better serve its customers, Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for experienced Casual Cashiers to work at their Secunda & Pavilion location.
Ensure that customers have a fantastic shopping experience while providing customer service support at the point of transaction.
Record all customer transactions using the Dis-Chem operating system in accordance with the company’s rules and standard operating procedures, with zero tolerance for mistakes and the removal of any potential for fraud.

Cashier Qualifications Needed:

Grade 12 / Matric
A minimum of six months’ experience working as a cashier or in a till-operating capacity.
Knowledgeable with computers and Microsoft Office
Competence in the use of numbers
Strong grasp of the English language Fundamental skills in providing service to customers
ready and able to work during normal business hours

Dis-Chem’s customer service rules and procedures must be adhered to as part of the job description with the following included;

Create a respectful and businesslike relationship with your clients.
Bring comments and complaints from customers to the attention of the Frontline Supervisor or the management of the business.
Maintain the hourly rate determined by the number of customers served.
Be informed of the current deals and discounts that are being offered.
Make sure that your coworkers and your clients are not put in any danger.

Conduct and manage communication according to the Dis-Chem 5 star principles
Take responsibility for the flow of cash
Make sure the supervisor has approved and signed off on any line voids or price adjustments before implementing them.
Customers can get their merchandise exchanged, and returned items are accepted if they have been given permission to do so.

Carry out all transactions, including the receipt and processing of payments (in the form of cash, bank cards, vouchers, coupons, and any other means of payment accepted by Dis-Chem).

Ensure that cash is stored in the drop safe in accordance with Dis-Chem’s standard operating procedures (SOPs). Ensure that the use of your code and password is confined to only you, that it is secure, and that it is periodically changed.

Make sure that all of the things, stock, and scripts that are being shipped out have been scanned and paid for. Also, make sure that the till is kept in a safe and secure location at all times.
Treat daily receipts as confidential information, and discuss them only with management.
Maintain vigilance, be able to identify questionable behavior, and communicate it to management.
Respond to questions about the items for sale in the store.
Observe the security guidelines and protocols established by Dis-Chem.

Cashier Competencies:

A comprehensive understanding of the operation of cash registers as well as the maintenance of cash drawers
The ability to accept payments, refunds, and sales transactions
Strong mastery of the English language, both orally and in writing
