Job Description
The Warehouse Department of this prominent South African publisher and distributor is currently seeking a DC Assistant (Night shift) to be stationed in Johannesburg.
The appropriate Team Leader will be the recipient of the successful candidate’s report.
Principal Duties
- The following warehouse sections will necessitate your participation: Receiving, Picking, Stock Control/Inventory Management, Dispatch, Returns, and Replenishment.
- The responsibilities of this position will encompass the following: the receipt, pickup, and control of inventory, the replenishment and/or dispatch of items for orders, and the quality check of content against order documentation to ensure that it is accurate in terms of both quantity and quality.
- Compare the reference numbers and report any inaccuracies in the logbook. Additionally, provide feedback to the supervisor.
- Ensure that breakable items are appropriately packaged and prepare containers for shrink wrapping when necessary.
- Determine the appropriate packaging material size by considering the package’s dimensions and contents.
- Position the label accurately on the exterior of the packaging.
- Report any errors in parcel packaging or selecting.
- Clean and perform basic maintenance on the machinery used in packaging, replenish packing materials as needed, and notify the supervisor of any machinery issues.
- Ensure that all health and safety conditions are met.
- Ensure that the workstation is kept tidy.
- Assist colleagues with their workloads as needed or work in other sections as needed.
- Engage in stock-takes and guarantee that you contribute to the accuracy of the stock by conducting cycle counts.
- Ensure that all orders assigned to your scanner are properly picked and packaged in accordance with the established standards.
- When applicable, operate a forklift.
- Achieve the daily, weekly, and monthly objectives outlined in the KPIs.
Job Requirements
- Matriculation certificate 1-2 years of experience in a warehousing store environment
- It is advantageous to possess a forklift driver’s license.
- The individual must be capable of working additional hours if necessary.
