REQUIREMENTS:

A valid driver’s license with a code 10 and a PrDP, as well as a certificate proving completion of the Basic Ambulance Assistant program
A National Senior Certificate/Grade 12, and registration with the HPCSA in the Basic Ambulance Assistant program.
Prior experience working in an Emergency Care setting is highly desirable and will be considered an asset.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Basic Ambulance Assistant is responsible for the treatment of patients within the boundaries of their scope of practice.
Patients need to be moved as part of Emergency Medical Services’ Planned Patient Transport and the inter-facility transfer system.
During special events, you should be available to provide emergency medical care and assistance in related areas.
In charge of the treatment and efficient management of the resources related to emergency medical services.

Offer immediate medical assistance in addition to performing any other tasks specifically requested by the Directorate.
Carry out any additional responsibilities that have been assigned to you by the supervisor.
The candidates are anticipated to work shift work. In addition to this, candidates are expected to go through a physical examination and medical screening.
