Specifications
- Grade 12 or an equivalent qualification (Fire 1&2 Hazmat Awareness and Operations are considered equivalent) or any higher qualification equal to Matric or NQF Level 3
- Level 3 First Aid or Basic Ambulance Course.
- Code C Driver’s License.
- Medically and physically capable of performing operational activities.
- Swimming proficiency is required.
- Candidates must not possess any phobias, such as claustrophobia or acrophobia.
- Experience or knowledge in fire and rescue will be an additional asset.
- A diligent and self-disciplined individual.
- Three months of internship experience will be an additional bonus.
Responsibilities
- Addressing daily chores and directives from the Station Officer.
- Presence at the workplace.
- Examination and assessment of vehicles and equipment.
- Sanitation of equipment and transports.
- Notify the officer on duty of any faults.
- Aid in fire suppression by collaborating with senior personnel during emergencies.
- Complying with orders in situations.
- Combatting grass, wildland, and structural fires.
- Safeguarding property against fires and fire equipment.
- Performing control room responsibilities as needed.
- Any additional assignments handed by their superior.
- Salvage operations.
