Description of the position of General Assistant:
Blockages and Clean-up Teams – WASA19774 – (2300002J)

Position: Assistant to the General Manager

The Water Operations Department is part of the Water and Sanitation Division.
Annual salary of between R163 152 and R223 800 (in addition to other benefits)
Core Responsibilities:
Contribute to the upkeep, maintenance, and repair of water and sewer networks, as well as the construction of new networks
Using a pick and shovel or any other tool of appropriate design, excavate the area as directed.
Make the ground ready for the installation of the reticulation pipes.
Backfilling and compacting the material using a shovel and a compactor
Use the sewer pumps to clean the area, remove any rags or foreign objects that may be present, and remove any debris.
Ensure that all safety standards are always adhered to in accordance with the requirements of the regulatory agencies.
Contribute to the completion of general maintenance and handyman tasks as needed.
Ensure that all facilities, mechanical equipment, tools, and work sites are operated and maintained in a risk-free manner.
Ensure that the workplace, ablution facilities, and offices are clean when work is finished for the day.
Ensure that all applicable laws, bylaws, policies, and procedures are adhered to in a compliant manner.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 8
- Capacity in terms of one’s body to carry out all of the necessary work
- 1 year experience in similar environment
