There is currently a vacancy for a Dispensary Support at the Hillcrest location of Dis-Chem Pharmacies, and you could be the one to fill it!
The primary objective of this is to find learners who are qualified to participate in and finish the learner basic pharmacist assistant course so that they can find employment.
This course will provide learners with the tools they need to understand the fundamental principles that underlie all of the major areas that are related to the pharmaceutical environment and dispensing, and it will promote the idea of quality learning on the job.
A Fixed-Term position as Dispensary Support will be offered to staff members until such time as they are registered with the SAPC as learner basic assistants.
You won’t be considered for permanent employment until you’ve earned your certification as a basic pharmacist assistant.
Minimum Requirement :
A Matric or Senior Certificate with at least a 50% score in Pure Mathematics, Life Science, or Physical Science, and an overall score of at least 50% is required for students in their final year of high school.
Particulars of the Job :
In order to be eligible to apply for registration with the Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a learner basic assistant, members of the Dispensary Support staff are required to have passed a competency exam first.
A pharmacist’s assistant who is registered in the category of pharmacist’s assistant learner basic is allowed to perform the following services or acts in a pharmacy as long as they are done directly under the personal supervision of a pharmacist:
The selling of medicines that fall under Schedule 1 or other substances that are scheduled.
Contribute to the process of compounding, manipulating, or preparing a non-sterile medicine or scheduled substance in accordance with a recipe and Standard Operating Procedures that have been approved by the pharmacist in charge of the operation.
Help with the unpacking and merchandising of inventory, as well as the cleaning of dispensary and over-the-counter (OTC) shelves, as directed by the responsible pharmacist.
Any additional responsibilities that have been delegated to them by the Dispensary Manager.
Acquire the ability to correctly interpret scripts, behave in a professional and responsible manner, and do all of this while adhering to the legal requirements established by the South African Pharmaceutical Council.
Be aware of common dosages and significant drug interactions, and make sure that the medication is checked, packed, and labeled accurately. In addition, check that the medication has been picked, packed, and checked accurately.
Make certain that a pharmacist has checked each medication for accuracy and has signed off on each one before you take it.
Assist in the control of stock, which includes managing the cleanliness and packing organization of shelves as well as the medicine expiration dates, for medicines or substances that are on Schedules 1 through Schedule 5.
In accordance with the dispensary manager’s request, conduct follow-up appointments and communicate with patients about the script tracking report.
Help out with scripts for the call center as well as patient service phone calls.
In order to improve people’s health, you should provide them with information.
Help with the scheme’s authorization of chronic medication, HIV and AIDS treatment, and oncology drugs.
Please inform the manager of the dispensary of any stock errors as well as low or out of stock levels.
Receive stock from the dispensary in accordance with the SOP that the company has established.
Competencies :
Read, write, and communicate in English as well as a second language.
Time management, being driven by a deadline, being able to work under pressure, and paying attention to detail are all essential.
Ability to listen, problem solving, customer service and focus, team player, conflict management, leading by example, accountability, professional conduct, trustworthiness, and honesty are all important aspects of good communication.
Computer and numerical skills are essential.
Advantageous:
Distribution FMCG, RetailExperience working in the chemistry front shop and a solid track record.
Contraceptives, family planning, and complementary and alternative medicine.
E-Scripting, 3rd Unisolv, and SAP are the three programs.

Evaluation of one’s level of expertise in order to register with the Pharmacy Council of South Africa as a citizen MIE, and to have a clean criminal and credit record
