The former MP for the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) spoke candidly yesterday about his expulsion from the party, which prevented him from attending the December national leadership elective convention. About six weeks prior to the conference, Ndlozi disclosed that he had been suspended. He says the suspension was “unconventional” and in violation of the party’s constitution and code of conduct.
Allegations that Ndlozi was collaborating with the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party, a source of conflict within the EFF, were allegedly the reason for the suspension. Prominent former EFF members have joined the Jacob Zuma-led MK party, including Dali Mpofu, Mzwanele Manyi, and former public protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane.
There has been conjecture regarding Ndlozi’s future in the EFF, particularly in light of Floyd Shivambu, the party’s former deputy president, switching to the MK party in August of last year. In a statement regarding the matter, EFF leader Julius Malema said he has “no personal relationship” with Ndlozi.
Ndlozi gave his version of events in a recent interview, saying that he was accused of collaboration with the MK party by the party’s leadership. He contends that his suspension and subsequent absence from the elective conference were caused by this accusation.
