Road Worker Requirements :
Ability to read and write
As well as completion of Adult Basic Education and Training (ABET 2/Grade 5) .
Experience in the following is recommended:
Constructing, maintaining, and repairing roadways; operating small construction machines and hand tools; and engaging in civil construction operations.
Willing to sleep outside and make use of the caravan.
Road Worker Competencies:
A solid comprehension of the building process, as well as of road maintenance and repair;
abilities in both written and spoken communication;
Capability to operate effectively under time constraints and strict deadlines;
Capability to operate well within a group; Reliable.
Road Worker DUTIES:
Help out road professionals with the upkeep and construction of roads, as well as any and all infrastructure connected to roads.
Carry out manual labor;
Take on general responsibilities to assist road specialists with the upkeep, repair, construction, and cleaning of roads.
These responsibilities may include the upkeep or improvement of road surfaces, road reserves, road signs and road markings, waterways, and structures, as well as related activities.

The Department will provide information on the logistics of the technical exercise that will be given to each of the applicants who have been chosen for further consideration.
This exercise is designed to assess important technical aspects of the job.
After the candidate has completed the interview and the technical exercise, the panel of judges will discuss whether or not they should recommend the candidate to participate in a generic managerial competency assessment (in accordance with the DPSA directive on the implementation of competency-based assessments).
During the competence assessment, general management skills will be tested using the instruments that are required to be used for the DPSA SMS Competency Assessment.
Before the nominated applicant may be considered for appointment to this position, they will have to successfully complete the Senior Management Pre-Entry Programme.
The Senior Management Pre-Entry Programme is a public service-specific training program that is open to all applicants who have aspirations of joining the Senior Management Service (SMS).
The program’s objective is to ensure that potential SMS members have a foundational understanding of the processes and procedures associated with the SMS.
The online Pre-Entry Program will take a total of 120 notional hours, or about 15 days, to complete.
