Job Description
Main Purpose: To work across multiple projects for both tenders and pre-construction phases. Facilitate, coordinate and maintain the project plan from establishment to project closure.
Key Performance Areas:
- Develop project plans which are optimised in terms of duration, usage of resources, safety and project risk, using planning, works preparation and business process standards.
- Facilitate, coordinate and maintain project plan from establishment to project closure.
- Develop project schedules based on network diagrams with minimal discretionary dependencies.
- Calculate the critical path of a project.
- Compile a project plan file per project which consists of detail project plan, project schedule, network diagram with critical path, resource histogram.
- Establish and maintain Visual Factory.
- Monitor project progress during execution and updating the schedule on a daily basis.
- Identify potential deviations from scheduled activities and compiling recovery plans.
- Any other job related duties as required from time to time.
Competencies/skills:
- Ability to independently compile a self-explanatory and detailed construction methodologies.
- Ability to creatively structure a logical project execution plan.
- Ability to compile a clear narrative document which describes the methodology of execution and supporting reasons. The thought processes which support optimisation of the schedule, usage of resources, cost, safety and minimisation of risk must be clearly communicated.
- Able to draw up a network diagram which is reflective of the actual execution of work packages.
- Ability to minimise discretionary dependencies and only retain, as far as possible, mandatory dependencies.
- Facilitation between all stakeholders and subject matter experts in order to obtain all necessary contributions to the project plan, network diagram and schedule.
- Ability to communicate (both written and verbal) across the spectrum of Employees within the organisation, including Senior Management.
Preferred Requirements:
- National Technical Diploma.
- Project Management qualification would be advantageous.
- Qualified Artisan would be advantageous.
- 5 Years’ experience in a Project Planning role.
- 5 – 8 Years’ Construction site experience working as a Technical personnel on maintenance, construction sites or fabrication projects.
- Sound knowledge of preparing and presenting reports and planning processes.
- Knowledge of advanced project management principles.
- Detailed knowledge of project planning, project scheduling and project controls.
- Knowledge of boiler construction, engineering and boiler maintenance would be advantageous.
- Sound knowledge of current planning software packages.
- Computer literate (MS Office).
