Must be available to work extra hours in the event of an emergency or as part of a prearranged overtime schedule.
Staff members may be reassigned by the Deputy Head in compliance with established policies and procedures, and the position is interchangeable with other Driver Operator roles within the Department.
Work Goals
Transports workers, materials, and equipment to and from job sites, as well as operates heavy mechanical equipment and specialized vehicles, as part of road and stormwater maintenance operations.
Important Areas of Responsibility
Upon arrival at the Depot and upon departure from the job site, completes assigned maintenance duties and activities.
Discusses the assignment in detail with the immediate supervisor.
Fills out paperwork and documentation pertaining to internal transactions.
Transports and operates large, specialized mechanical equipment and vehicles for the purpose of maintaining roads and storm water drainage systems.
Manages the flow of materials required for repair or reconstruction as well as their discharge or offloading.

Primary Necessities
Appropriate level of secondary education.
Current proof of competence in operating heavy machinery and truck-mounted cranes.
Legal authorization to operate a motor vehicle (Code C1).
A current PrDP is required for professional driving.
Relevant work experience of two years.
Preferred Requirements
Secondary school diploma (NQF Level 4) or its international equivalent.
