Aim of the Position

Labouring activities associated with providing support to logistical requirements, including the preparation of equipment for loading and unloading of products and chemicals, as well as general housekeeping activities, are carried out by the individual.

Key Accountabilities and Description of the Recruitment Process

Participate in an emergency preparedness exercise, appropriately identify and use personal protective equipment (PPE), perform routine inspections on safety equipment and ensure that maintenance is performed where necessary, conduct BAPP observations where necessary, adhere to all safety and work standards, and conduct inspections of the integrated management system (IMS).

• Cleaning of plant areas, benches, floors, personal protective equipment, glassware, and other items in accordance with direct instructions of the supervisor
• Cleaning of plant areas, benches, floors, personal protective equipment, and other items in accordance with the routine that was planned
• Organizing the materials in storage areas in accordance with the instructions given directly
• The safe handling, stacking, and storage of hazardous materials and chemicals (where applicable)
• The administration, storage, and transportation of gas cylinders in a secure manner (where applicable)
  
• The loading and unloading of vehicles, as well as the packing of materials in storage areas in accordance with the routine that has been planned
• Ensure that the area of responsibility is generally clean and tidy
• Carry out tasks while being directly supervised
• Carry out tasks in accordance with the plan

In general

• Assist a person who is dedicated in carrying out tasks that are specific to the discipline.
• Carry out activities that are specific to the discipline in accordance with the instructions
• Deliver messages and packages wherever they are applicable
• In the event that overtime is required, work it.
• The safe and correct use of hand tools and equipment
• The safe handling of process chemicals and glassware when applicable
• Ad hoc related tasks on request from more senior personnel, when they are requested to be done.

Education in a Formal Setting

Code EC1 requires a driver’s license and a grade 12 or N3 education with mathematics and science as subjects.
A driver’s license for a forklift is an added advantage.
