Summary of the Job Advertisement

This position is essential for keeping the Sewer Pump Stations in good operating conditions, which includes Operating Pumps, Maintenance of manual screens, Housekeeping, and Inspections.
Other responsibilities include keeping the Stations clean.
Notifying the Supervisor of any issues that have arisen

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 or its equivalent is required.
• Prior experience working in a sewer pump station is preferred.
• In good health both physically and medically.

Primary Obligations

• You are responsible for receiving the handover from the shift before.
• Completion of the signature section of the Pump Station Register.
• Records the readings from all of the pumps (Run Hour Meter)
• Records the readings from all of the sumps
• Open the valves that need to be open and close the valves that should be close. Check the positions of the inlet valves and the outlet valves, and then open the valves that need to be open.
• Routine Safety Checks at the Pump Station
• Cleaning of the Screens on an as-needed basis if necessary.
• Performing cleaning duties at the Pump Station.
• Make a record of every piece of faulty equipment and report it.
• Be sure to keep an eye on the running Pumps.

Knowledge

• An understanding of the fundamentals of a Sewer Pump Station.
• Basic rigging.
• An understanding of the fundamentals of pressure and flow, as well as valves;
• Occupational safety protocols.
• Effective verbal communication skills
• Skill in maintaining a clean and organized home environment
