Shop Assistant Job Description
The team needs you to lead by providing direction, supervision, and an example.
Team members should be trained in sales strategies, product knowledge, operational standards, customer service standards, and visual merchandising standards, and then the team should be guided in these areas.
Ensure that the store is staffed in accordance with the staffing schedules that have been agreed upon based on the needs of the business.
Make sure that each and every one of your clients has a pleasant, thought-provoking, and individualized experience.
Increase sales and turnover by incentivizing and inspiring team members to meet their sales quotas.
Make sure that the store meets the standards for visual merchandising so that customers have a pleasant shopping experience.
Ensure that stock levels, stock losses, and shrinkage are effectively managed.
Ensure that all products are priced correctly with relevant Price stickers and/or signage.
Ensure that stock take and cycle count variance reports are checked, variances are investigated, and stock shortages or unbalanced stock information is escalated to the Area Manager.
Maintain a clean, neat, and tidy sales floor that is fully restocked.
Ensure that stock levels are effectively managed. Ensure that stock losses and shrinkage are effectively managed.
Make sure that all of the procedures for the point of sale and the bank are followed, and discuss any areas of concern with the Area Manager.
Make sure that all of the store’s policies, standards, and operating procedures are being followed. Ensure that all of the store’s operational activities are being carried out effectively.
Shop Assistant Requirements
A matric, grade 12 or equivalent certificate
A minimum of two years’ experience managing a modest staff in a commercial setting, preferably in the retail industry
A passion for cosmetics, working in retail, and providing excellent service to customers
A familiarity with cosmetics and care products for the skin
Strong focus on providing service to customers
A solid work ethic and hands-on attitude Sound leadership skills the ability to work a flexible schedule to meet operational needs A strong work ethic and hands-on attitude
Capability to organize shift schedules and keep track of attendance
Capability for task planning and prioritization
A fundamental understanding of email and Excel are required.
Competence in speech and listening
Capacity to maintain composure and a pleasant demeanor under adverse conditions
Ability to maintain a standing position for extended periods of time
Capability to perform product demonstrations and sales pitches
The ability to generate excitement and interest in your store, which will not only inspire your employees but also motivate customers to return and make additional purchases.
