On an annual basis, the salary ranges from R155 148 to R182 757 (Level 03).

Cape Town is the location of the Western Cape Division of the High Court centrally located.

THE REQUIREMENTS ARE:

Either a Matriculation certificate or its equal.
A driver’s license that is still valid Given the nature of the setting at the High Court with regard to the contact with Judges, having a minimum of one year of relevant court experience will be another advantage:

Capabilities and Abilities to Perform

Planning and organizational abilities are required.
Communication skills, the ability to make decisions, the ability to listen, and the ability to drive are all important.
Comprehension of computers, ability to solve problems and analyze data, Time management, client orientation, and customer focus are all areas that need improvement.
A pre-entry practical exercise is required to be completed by all candidates who have been shortlisted as part of the evaluation process.
The purpose of this exercise is to identify whether or not the candidate is suitable for the position based on the technical and generic requirements of the position.

THE DUTY OF:

Assist in transporting members of the bench to and from court, as well as accompanying them to their chambers with legal representation.
Before bringing the judges in, it is important to ensure that the courtrooms are in order.
Make sure that the court support staff is organized and that they are informed of the starting times, which should be in accordance with the daily court roll.

Prior to the hearing, it is imperative that the court books and files be brought to the courthouse. Ensure that there is complete silence and order in the courtrooms whenever the judges arrive or exit the room.
Call the court into session, and have the attorney and the judge pass over any documents and evidence that are relevant to the case.
The motion court rolls, the manufacture of copies, and the transmission of the information should all be checked to ensure that they are accurate.

In accordance with the directions given by the judges, assemble the court files with the court orders.
For the purpose of being transported to the courtrooms, the criminal and civil files should be drawn, checked, and organized.
The court roll, which includes motions that were not opposed, should be collected from typists and then distributed to the appropriate judges.
Collect and disseminate relevant documents from the offices of the Judge President and the Deputy Judge President, including but not limited to opposition to motions, trials, appeals, reviews, petitions, and other proceedings.
Contact the Judges and let them know about the missing files.

Keep the documents, registries, and other records in a file or archive.
It is important to negotiate the allocation of courtrooms with the judges.
Pay attention to the shortages of courtrooms.
Make sure the court files are kept secure.
In accordance with the distribution list, copies of the court rolls should be made and distributed.

It is your responsibility to collect files from the judges and then give them to the typists or the appropriate administrative unit.
It is the responsibility of the general messenger to collect and distribute mail, packages, files, and documents both inside and outside of the courthouse itself.
