Position: Vehicle Rental Manager

Location: Orion Group, 26 Wellington Road, Parktown Johannesburg

Reports to: Operations Manager

Job Summary:
The Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing the management and maintenance of the company’s fleet of vehicles. The individual in this role will be responsible for ensuring that all vehicles are operational, properly maintained, and comply with all relevant regulations. The Fleet Manager will also be responsible for managing a team of drivers and administrative staff, as well as developing and implementing fleet management policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
– Oversee the day-to-day operations of the company’s fleet, including scheduling and dispatching vehicles, managing driver schedules, and monitoring vehicle maintenance and repairs.
– Develop and implement fleet management policies and procedures to ensure that all vehicles are operating efficiently and in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
– Monitor and analyze fleet performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
– Manage a team of drivers and administrative staff, including training, mentoring, and performance evaluations.
– Coordinate with internal departments, such as operations and finance, to ensure that the fleet is meeting the company’s needs and objectives.
– Keep abreast of industry trends and best practices in fleet management to ensure that the company remains competitive and compliant.
– Maintain accurate records and documentation related to vehicle maintenance, inspections, and repairs.

Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as business administration or logistics, is required.
– At least 5 years of experience in fleet management, preferably in a leadership role.
– Strong knowledge of fleet management software and systems.
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
– Ability to multitask, prioritize, and delegate effectively.
– Knowledge of state and federal regulations related to fleet management.
– Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
– CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) preferred but not required.
