A premium events venue in Johannesburg is looking for an experienced Venue Manager to oversee operations and drive business growth. The venue caters to private events, weddings, and corporate functions, offering both intimate conference spaces and a larger event area accommodating up to 350 guests.

The ideal candidate is outgoing, charismatic, and passionate about hospitality, with a natural ability to build rapport with clients. They should be detail-oriented with a creative eye for space utilization and guest experience, adaptable in fast-paced environments, and a proactive problem-solver who remains calm under pressure.

Minimum Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in venue management, hospitality, or event coordination.
  • Strong sales, negotiation, and marketing abilities.
  • Experience in costing and pricing event packages.
  • Ability to liaise with high-end clients and maintain excellent customer service.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to multitask under pressure.
  • Proficiency in invoicing and basic financial administration.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Key Responsibilities

Venue Marketing & Sales

  • Support management in relaunching the venue and establishing its presence in the market.
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote the venue to potential clients.
  • Conduct venue tours, showcasing event spaces and facilities to prospective clients.
  • Negotiate rates, prepare contracts, and secure bookings.
  • Manage the venue’s social media presence, online listings, and collaborations with event planners.
  • Build and maintain relationships with event coordinators, wedding planners, and corporate clients to drive business.

Client Bookings & Event Coordination

  • Handle all client inquiries, provide quotations, and manage the entire booking process.
  • Issue invoices and manage payment schedules.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all booked events.
  • Ensure client requirements are met on event days, resolving any logistical challenges.
  • Supervise event setup and breakdown, ensuring smooth execution.
  • Oversee pre- and post-event cleaning, ensuring the venue is well-maintained.
  • Conduct stock take of all items post-events in collaboration with the client.

Operations & Facility Management

  • Oversee the general upkeep and presentation of the venue.
  • Work with the site manager to ensure all health, safety, and compliance regulations are met.
  • Manage a small team (2-3 staff members) responsible for on-site maintenance and guest assistance.
